Very poor customer service I bought a new car from Ottawa Honda a month ago and it has been nothing but frustrating. Despite paying over $500 for a predelivery inspection one of my seatbelts was broken. As well I have had an issue getting my cash rebate. They do not return phone calls and while they are polite when I go in, they always say they will get back to me but they never do. So far, I have had no success at resolving either issue. Based on my experience I would recommend you buy elsewhere as they are very frustrating to deal with. Once you sign on the line, they don't seem to care at all.
This place has questionable practices I bought a Honda Odyessey from Ottawa Honda. ONE DAY after the warranty expired, the sliding door fell off the tracks. They fixed the problem, charged me full pop, and said they would talk with Honda on my behalf to see if Honda would help out...That was over a year ago and I never heard back from them! I recently went to another dealership to buy a Pilot. When they looked at the service records for my Odyssey, nothing was entered into the computer system about the work they had done. Of course, I asked myself, how could Honda deal with the issue if the service department never put the repair work into the computer system? Too many questions with this place...STAY AWAY! As has been said by others...One you sign, they don't care about you at all!
stay away I will not take my car back here. I had a strange sound in my front brakes. they told me it was nothing and ignore the sound it would dissappear, however the noise did not dissappear and now richmond hondasuggests I pay them $140 to repair my brakes. I currently have an issue with my clutch now I had them look at it they say nothing is wrong. I will be getting a second oppinion.
Looking to buy a Honda Civic soon. I called this place and the person who answered the phone provided some crappy service. Was not even willing to answer my questions. Person even hung up the phone on me. What a horrible service. I want everyone in Ottawa to know about this place and stay away from them.
Buyers beware........ I contacted Ottawa Honda about a minivan that they had in stock. I spoke to a sales rep by phone to see a used minivan, he took my info including my cell number and advised me the van was next door for cleaning and I wasnt able to make it to the dealer that day anyways. The sales rep booked me in for an appointment to see the minivan the following day. I made the 1.5Hr drive to see the van and had the cheque in hand to make a deal. When I arrived we looked around and came across a diffrent sales rep, I told to him why we made the long journey then the rep they asked if we were John Doe from the city Jane Doe and I said yes. The rep explained to us that the minivan had been sold earlier that day. The rep didn't seem to think it was big deal that we drove that distance to see the van, I asked why they didn't call my cell phone to advise me of this and saved me the drive he just shrug his sholders.I was furious and I express my happiness. I told they rep that I wouldn't spend a cent there and that I would take my buisness somewhere else. I loaded my three kids and my wife back up in our vehicle and made the 1.5Hr journey home the trip cost us 40$ for gas 10$ for Tims horton = 50$ for 3 borning Hours wasted of our Saturday to go for a drive with lots of frustration. I then received a message on my cell phone when we arrived home from the original rep saying that to his understanding i was in to see the van but it had sold earlier in the day and asked if anybody showed me any other vehicle and if I needed anything don't hesitate in contacting him. Are you kidding me not even an apology, Ottawa Honda you can stick it. I feel the sales man was very incompetent and maybe should start treating his customers a little better or start looking for a new career maybe like the guy that adds the salt to the fries at a fast food joint, thats if he meet the criteria.
Repair work @OttawaHonda I own a Honda. Unfortunately I had couple of minor accidents and I had to take my car to them (as they were authorized honda dealers) for repairs. Rear bumper and trunk repair; They installed a new bumper which fitted quite nicely and they blended the color well with rest of the car. But the trunk they fitted does not close nicely. Its not smooth and even a child would be able to tell that it is repaired. Front Bumper Repair: I had my front bumper removed as well. Now after I was given quote I was told that it would look totally genuine, and nobody would be able to tell the difference whether it is newly installed or not. He sounded very convincing so I went for it. Now next week after when the bumper was installed, I had a look and immediately was able to spot the difference. The color was not blended well (his excuse: would take time to blend in) & there was gap on either sides between the bumper and rest of the car body (his excuse: this is genuine Honda part we cant do anything about it). Now imagine yourself in this kind of situation, when all the repair work has been done, painted etc, would you ever be able to convince this guy about this minor differences which looks huge when it comes to selling the car? NO. I expressed my disagreement with his opinion but there was nothing more I could do. So, please avoid Ottawa Honda if you can. They will have certificates on the walls etc, but I doubt their skills. I felt like I spent too much money but not over quality repairs. So, it was not worth it. But having said that, I would also like to mention that I did not test any other repair shops either, so may be comparitively their work was better or may be not. I leave it upto you to decide. My job was to tell you how I felt about their service. Thanks
A very dishonest business! I asked for an estimate on replacement of the front break including disks, pads and labours for my Honda Civic car, as I recently got my car serviced and have been told the problem.Ottawa Honda quoted me for $365, which was a bit more expensive than the estimates from other two auto shops I contacted earlier. Nonetheless, I decided to go with Ottawa Honda as they are a Honda dealer. What a mistake!!! Guess what happened. When they billed me $666.29 in the end. They charged me two hours of labor, which other two companies would do for one hour. They also added some unnecessary work on my rare break

So I'm looking for a second car...
And my Mother and Sister are in the car market. 3 Car sales. I know where I won't be going.
I am actually considering a Hyundai. They are squashing Honda in my opinion.
So why would a dealership/sales staff compromise future sales, referrals and business?
I mean, that's the way of business, especially in sales.
The way my Mortgage Broker said is best. I am going to treat you well because I want your business, your children's business, and any other business you can send my way.
This is the attitude.
I mean, if I am selling someone a car and they ask me, is it has original paint, and I wasn't sure. I would either check it out myself or check with someone who can tell the difference. I wouldn't spew BS out of my mouth.....Unless I knew it was repainted and deliberately wanted to rip someone off. I think this is what happened to me and my co-worker when we shopped at Ottawa Honda Pre Owned on Richmond Road.
Interested in purchasing a car from Ottawa Honda Pre-Owned?
They have enticing prices and negotiate at the drop of a hat. They will sit in front of your family and tell you everything you want to hear. Before you sign the line, take the car to a professional, trusted, 3rd party mechanic to have you vehicle looked over before you buy. Spend the $100.00 or so and have the car inspected for repainted panels or any damages.
Secondly, in the contract, put everything in writing. Anything promised should be written down before you sign. Any maintenance, extras, options, discounts, anything. This will be your only leg to stand on should something go wrong.
Third, trading in a vehicle? Dealers like to 'steal' trades. Be sure to know the worth of your trade in before you deal. Check here to get an idea of your trade in http://www.canadianblackbook.com/
Fourth, used cars have the highest markups and profits to be made. Some cars may earn profits in excess of $5000.00 Especially if your selling damaged and repaired products. Never pay the sticker price.

Unreal Coincidence. My inspiration for this site.
After buying a damaged vehicle from Ottawa Honda Pre Owned earlier this year and being left hung out to dry with a damaged and poorly repaired $20 000 vehicle I bumped into a couple of co workers who were discussing their recent car purchases. My co-worker began telling me about a vehicle that he purchased only a couple months ago. While looking through the glove box of his 'new to him $20 000 vehicle he discovered a $5000. repair bill from Ottawa Honda's collision center. Upon closer inspection he discovered that his newly purchased Honda had been involved in a collision and this was not disclosed to him by none other than Clarence D'Silva the premier Salesman at Ottawa Honda Pre Owned. My jaw hit the floor and I just about fell over. I then began telling him about my experience earlier this year with Ottawa Honda and Clarence....and Rick Saunders.
We both couldn't believe that the same thing happened to both of us.
Fortunately for this individual he got all his money back but had to put up a huge fight and endure a lot of stress in doing so.
What a coincidence. But these facts are starting to paint a clear picture of Ottawa Honda Pre Owned. It's too bad. Most people like myself would love nothing but a smooth transaction and to recommend a company and salesman to other friends, family, and co-workers. Why a company would like to do business like this is well beyond me.
My Experience With Ottawa Honda Pre Owned
In early 2011 I purchased a used vehicle from Ottawa Honda Pre Owned located at 1075 Richmond Rd in Ottawa. I dealt with Clarence D'Silva and he was a pretty seemingly nice guy to deal with. The vehicle I purchased appeared to be in good shape and drove nice. Clarence assured me the paint was all original on several occasions throughout our conversations. We made a deal and I purchased it. About 2 weeks later I was washing and waxing the car. Upon closer attention I noticed the rear portion of the car was repainted. You could clearly see 'orange peel' in the paint and 'fish eyes' from a poor paint job. On a hunch, I contacted Ottawa Honda's collision center conveniently located at 1075 Richmond rd. I provided them with my VIN number and they told me they had this vehicle in for a body repair and that some panels had been repainted by them.
When I discovered this I contacted Clarence D'Silva told him about what I found. I then brought the vehicle in and showed Rick Saunders (Manager) and Clarence. They agreed that it appeared repainted. Rick Saunders the Manager of Ottawa Honda Pre Owned said it 'probably had some scratches blown in' and some 'paint touch ups here and there'. He was, in so many words, telling me what happened to the car, but not admitting anything. Rick Saunders has been selling cars for a long time and knows the laws very well.
After our conversation they offered to exchange the car for something else on their lot. All of which had cosmetic flaws and were clearly abused. I declined another car from them and they refused to refund my money.
I contacted OMVIC who governs used car sales and let me tell you they are useless and don't really care.
So like so many others I was left with a vehicle that has had some kind of body damage, was lied to and now own a car not worth the $20 000 I paid for it.
How any human being can sit in front of a family and not be honest with them in order to make a few hundred bucks is beyond me.
This site is intended to educate other potential Ottawa Honda Clients and provide them with information they need in order to purchase a car from Ottawa Honda Pre Owned. $20 000 is a lot of money for any family and you should be entitled to a 'straight' car for that money - unfortunately not at Ottawa Honda Pre Owned - for me!
